The Story of Goddess Katyayani
According to legend, the sage Katyayana performed intense penance to have the Mother Goddess as his daughter. Answering his prayers, the divine energy of the gods combined to create a radiant form of Durga who was born as Katyayani. When Mahishasura’s tyranny threatened the heavens and earth, Katyayani waged a fierce battle and defeated the demon, restoring peace and dharma.

Goddess Katyayani is depicted with four arms, riding a majestic lion. She holds a sword and a lotus, while her other hands display gestures of protection and blessings.
